Brain Injury

Since our brain shapes, governs, and defines who we are, the consequences of a brain injury can affect all aspects of our lives, including our personality and ability to function in the work place. Once an individual suffers a brain injury, the consequences are usually permanent.

As each persons brain is different, no two brain injuries are alike . Symptoms may appear right away or may not be present for days or weeks after the injury. Common brain injury symptoms include, headaches, memory problems, fatigue, depression, and inability to concentrate.  The most common diagnosis of a mild brain injury is a concussion.

Unfortunately, one of the most difficult issues people who have experienced a brain injury is that the individual does not realize that he or she has suffered a brain injury.

The forces experienced in some crashes may be sufficient to cause a brain injury. As the the brain floats in fluid contained inside the skull and is not attached to the skull, during an accident, the brain can be quickly decelerated by striking the bone inside the skull. This movmement of and impacts by the brain can cause tearing of the fine nerves in the brain, resulting in a brain injury.
